I didn’t

Give up so you could.

I know what you’ve gone through, and you’re doing your best to make it work.

But is this what life has come to?

When things get brutal, we are allowing all the struggles that get thrown at us to hold us down.

So when the good outweighs the bad, we fear something terrible will happen soon.

If you don’t allow that fear to eat you up inside, the negative energy never makes it into your space.

So the level of good keeps going up, and when something does happen, I don’t stay down for long.

For I know the battles are going to keep coming.

And I will be prepared to fight and win, no one can say.

I didn’t try.

  1. there is a great seed of perserverance and inspiration in this poem. if i may, i think if you played more with the structure, it would read more powerfully. thanks for sharing!

    1. I appreciate your feedback, and I went back and cleared it up a little bit. Please let me know what you think of how it reads now. I hope you are having a blessed day and all is well! Thank you again for taking the time to read my piece and give fantastic feedback.

      1. oh of course! this is one of my favourite parts of the writing process, editing and sharing ideas. i certainly think the message more clear, the lines are clean. its a little maya angelou-esque no? 🙂

this is extra, feel free to ignore, but the way you played the title into the first line, you have an opportunity to do it again at the end as well, and close the circle.

“And I will be prepared to fight and win, and no one can say”

*insert mental return to the title*

        have a good day!
