I guess I’ve

always wanted to shine like a star so that they would all notice me.

But I wasn’t ready for all the attention and noise all at the same time.

It all made me want to just sit down and crawl back into my shell to hide away from it all.

Until they forgot who I was and moved on in life because I am and maybe never will be ready to be out in the spotlight again.

I don’t want

to get in your way so I back up and move to the side.

As you pull out and move forward with this new journey in your life, I think I’ll just watch and see how it goes before I jump back in.

For sitting on the sideline feels so good right now as the stress melts from my shoulders and nothing is urgent anymore.

As the wind blows so strong today I don’t mind as my hair blows all around me, I don’t even bother to move it anymore.

I know you want me around more, but it feels so good right now to be alone that I just can’t seem to rush back into your life right now.

Words don’t

Always come easy for me, leaving so many of my options in life short-lived.

Only for me to wonder about what if’s more than I would like for I can’t move forward If I’m thinking about what I missed out in life.

For the past is long gone and the present and future is where my focus belongs.

Sometimes

the things left on the table after a long day at work are things you may not need or want when the sun comes up.

But, maybe they can also help you find something from a long time ago. Like the magnifying glass may help you zoom in on the writing on the table that was forgotten all those years ago.

Or the marches that can be powerful enough to light the fire and then gather we will be.

Poetry

It’s so easy

To get lost for everything around me is up in flames.

So easy to back down when you don’t want to deal with that crap today or even tomorrow.

But sometimes you don’t have a choice

And so you get into the role that was written for you, and you pretend.

Then you fight until you have gained enough to escape.

From this place in hope, the next round will be worth the new pace of things.
