What makes you feel nostalgic?

Me feel nostalgic?

Thinking of all the old written notes from school.

When we couldn’t have our phone out in school, or we didn’t have one, and passing the time in classes was passing notes with my friends and not getting caught, of course.

It makes me think about all my old connections and how life was simple as a child and teenager.

I miss the stressful days and not having to worry about much.

Hopefully, 2024 will give me some stressful moments, and I hope this next year gives us blessings and joyful moments!

Poetry

The year of 2023

You showed up initially with so much hope to get things done. And I’m not going to lie; you were making some great moves and meeting deadlines, and the results were good, even with last-minute fixes.

You presented a great book.

But then you burned out, trying to do something new and uncomfortable and overwhelming that you were stuck and down for far too long.

And so you thought there was no hope or light at the end of the tunnel. And right when you were about to give up a familiar face showed you grace and offered you help and support, and like a new, energized Bunny, you were off to get things done, and wow, did you get them done.

And then you showed your wins, and another hand came out and helped you up to the next stage of your journey. You shot off like a rocket, and even in the rough turbines, you did your task and made your deadlines again.

Ultimately, the year was not all your vision, but success was there as you crossed the finish line in 2023.

You get to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?

my perfect space for reading and writing. What is it like?

Something like the picture below, Something with big windows so I have a great view to look at and with lights around in the space because it would make the space feel warm and inspiring all year long.

But big enough that I can lay out while reading and writing. And have access to books that I want to read or reread. A place that brings comfort and warmth every time I step into it, no matter the season or day. A place that will feel like home and a space I will always go to no matter what. I hope to have this space one day in my forever home but for now what I have will do.

My all-time favorite automobile?

Ford Mustang the Mach 1, which was the 1999-2004 model.

I don’t know when I started to like them, but I know I liked cars before and after I watched the Fast and Furious movies.

Unfortunately, after the first couple of movies and getting busy in high school and college, I got into other things , and fast cars weren’t all that thrilling.

Writing Fiction

The night before Christmas, all were at home.

But not all because just a short distance away was one of many who was not home. The night shift was calling her name.

And after just four nights of being back at work, no spark of joy flowed through her body as Christmas drew near.

For she was drained of almost all her energy, and so the night dragged on.

She was counting down the hours until she could go home and be off for the new year.

It seemed too far away for her; this time of year is her favorite time of year, but Christmas Day is a work day, and once it’s over. The rushing feet of the new year will be hurrying up behind her soon enough.

But later that night, as midnight was nearing, she was walking down the hall on her way from a delivery.

She glanced out the window, and the bright Christmas lights shined her way, and just like that, a tiny spark of joy shot up inside her and smile began to come back.

And right on cue, Santa and his reindeer flew over and waved to her. And as you blinked and pinched yourself to see if you were dreaming.

The Magic of Christmas came over you as the moments of tiredness faded away.

And as the clock strikes midnight, the Joy of a Christmas flows through you with another happy soul saved before Christmas.

Santa and his reindeer flew away, sparking magic as everyone else slept the morning away.

Share what you know about the year you were born.

The year I was born I don’t know much about but what I learned about it is.

  • The fall of the Berlin wall November 9th, 1989.  
  • Arsenio Hall becomes first African American to host nightly talk show. 
  • Cold War comes to an end.  
  • Exxon Oil disaster happens off the coast of Alaska in March.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became an overnight sensation. I am a fan of this one
  • The Cosby Show (NBC) was the most popular TV series, Batman was the highest-grossing film, and Look Away was the top song on the charts.
  • The pilot episode of Seinfeld aired on NBC, The Simpsons premiered on Fox, and the Broadway musical Oh! Calcutta! closed after 5,959 performances.

I used to watch Rosanne, which was a top show in 1989.
