Daily Prompt: Locked

I’m locked out of this world a place we call home

A place that keeps us warm when we are cold.

A place that sometimes feels welcoming and other

times a place we feel like an outsider.

Being locked out isn’t so bad this time around

for it’s so nice outside that maybe I’ll take a walk.

The sun is shining and the flowers are blooming, and

the bugs are all around but even they can’t ruin my good mood.

I welcome being locked out today, for looking in on the outside

isn’t so bad today.

  1. How do you keep your poetry so pure and good, Deirdre? I find that the daily poems I write in the book my wife gave me for valentines day are getting complex and … well, sometimes they are quite disturbing! Am I doing something wrong?

    1. Lol, no your not doing anything wrong. Poetry is all about emotions and life experiences or using your imagination. Or just being inspired by something. So yes sometimes the words will be dark and disturbing, but I guess it’s about how your feeling and the mood your in. For me sometimes the words just come to me, but other times I have to think about what I want to say. I guess my work is pure and good for I just put myself out there and I just let how I feel pour into my words. All I can say is keep writing and maybe look for different things to inspire you. Maybe use a little bit more imagination to create your poems if your words feel too dark. Trust me not everything I sit down to write turns out great. Also, I just believe it’s good and just let everyone else see it. If it gets rejected or low views oh well, not every poem of mine will be loved by everyone. But I will love my work and that’s all that truly matters to me.
