Like fire

You light the way and

With a smile on your face, you guide the way .

Your hair is all I remember that day when we had to leave town and walk out on the cold, snowy grounds.

Away from the mountains because the cold was coming in, our little town could no longer hold the protection we needed.

We hoped we could find safety soon, or the cold would quickly get us too.

The red of your hair reminded me of fire, and I kept that close to me as we walked ahead.

Trying to stay warm and not let the cold get into my mind, or it will all be for nothing.

Poetry

Just for

the moment I can feel the sun on my face
without worrying about a mask.
Oh, how it used to be before things changed, and my eyes are all you see.
As I come in and go out the door, and only if you pay attention can you tell I’m smiling your way.
Today, the wind is my friend as it blows and my hair brings to move all around, and I wonder how this day will end and will I ever get this chance again.

Poetry

No more

judgment as I begin to walk down a path of confident

love and empathy.

A path that I am afraid to take but know it is what I need right now.

The one path that will set me free from being so quiet and alone, for I have done so much that locking myself away inside is not okay anymore.

I have to be seen and heard this time around if I want to make it.

Because giving up isn’t in my bones or on my tongue as my fingers glide the way to a place I truly want to be.

Rise and shine

They said to me on this beautiful morning.

So much to look forward to.

Until I realized I had so much to get done and so little time to do it.

So walking away from a beautiful sunrise to start my day was well hard enough.

But the ability to get up from the warmth of my bed to deal with the cold outside.

It’s like waking up from a nightmare and realizing it wasn’t all a dream.

And no matter how many times you try to reclose your eyes, it’s not going away.

And that sunrise that woke you up and shined some light on your day can’t save you from every moment of the day.

For the cards that have already been dealt for you, and the outcome is still not care to us.

But soon, you will have to face them head-on.

Quotes

Quote of the day

“Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime, Therefore, we are saved by hope. Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; Therefore, we are saved by faith. Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone. Therefore, we are saved by love. No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as from our own; Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness. ”

I’ve got

Photo by Rory McKeever on Unsplash

A long road ahead of me if I want to make this work.
If I want to take this seriously, I have to do what I’ve never done before.
Beat at the roadblocks in my way and fight through them even when I feel I don’t have any energy left to go on.
I won’t just sit around anymore, being afraid of the outcome.
I may have a long road ahead of me, but the road behind me is not worth going back to.
So from now on is the only thing that I know now will work out for me.

Poetry

So Cold ❄

Is my face and my hands before I wrap up and get ready to go out.

So cold is the snow that falls from the sky

So cold it is this winter afternoon as I look out my window

at what this little winter storm has done.

Sidewalks and driveways are all shoveled and salted as the call for more snow is coming upon us again.

The desire to stay warm is all around me as today, all I want to do is relax and let the stress melt away like the little amount of snow outside.

For once, I want it to be calming and peaceful like it was before when I hadn’t added so much more to my life.
