What if I

See you again and you smile at me like it hasn’t been four years.

And things are more Strain than ever before but yet to you, the time hasn’t passed.

It’s just like we left it as if we talk and see each other almost every day.

The answers you’re looking for are there but will my questions be answered too.

So much going on and here you are as if no time or moment has gone by for us.

I don’t want to make this a big deal so I keep my mouth shut and I smile back and say what I have to survive this conversation.

Then I walk away knowing this isn’t the end and we will meet again.

And again I will have to prepare myself for disappointment or some enlightenment when we reconnect.

Waiting for

That miracle sometimes feels like standing all alone in the dark.

Waiting for the sun to rise so there is some light in my life.

Or until it gets too cold and the numbness inside isn’t all I feel anymore.

As the cold surrounds me and my hands start to tingle and I know it’s time to go in.

But before I walk away I look around one more time in the hope that one day I will see a halo over this dark lake.

The only lake that makes me feel so calm and alive after a long day of frustration.

Watching from

The shadows at the town that used to be the place I called home.

Where I felt safe and surrounded by all the right people until I wasn’t and the shadows became my friend.

As those close to me betrayed me and left me in the dark with nothing to go back to.

So alone and so cold as the day turns into night and no matter how much I layer up I’m still cold.

It’s like the warmth inside me died out that day, and you took my home and gave my heart back to me.

So Broken I accept what has been served to me, but I know I deserve more and better.

But that too will take time to conquer.

Nothing is

Clear anymore, not even the picture of you.

So much has changed as life seems to pass us both by so quickly that we can’t keep it all straight anymore.

But we know that we can’t go back to right our wrongs.

We just have to live with them and do better next time and we have to forgive ourselves and learn to not forget.

For our future depends on us being open minded and to be alert for the darkness of our past is always lurking around waiting for us to give it an opportunity.

To pull us down again and maybe this time we won’t be able to get back up again for weakness will have overcome us.

I knew

you were trouble when you smiled at me on such a grey day

Not even the rain could hide the darkness coming from you, filling the streets with no joy in sight.

But your eyes were so innocent and filled with joy and peace.

But now those same eyes show nothing but darkness and cloudy days ahead.

And as I watch you from a far now, I see how you stalk your prey and when they least expect it you fall right into place.

Setting the trap that is needed to capture them and even though I tried to warn them.

I couldn’t shake them off your spell and when it was over, it was me they warned, for they thought I was next.

Yet I’ve already been in their shoes, and he doesn’t return for seconds, for once he ruins you he doesn’t notice you again.

You become the ghost of his past and even if you haunt him, he won’t care, for there is no heart or conscious in this man, if that’s what you want to call him.
