I didn’t

Advertisements

Give up so you could.

I know what you’ve gone through, and you’re doing your best to make it work.

But is this what life has come to?

When things get brutal, we are allowing all the struggles that get thrown at us to hold us down.

So when the good outweighs the bad, we fear something terrible will happen soon.

If you don’t allow that fear to eat you up inside, the negative energy never makes it into your space.

So the level of good keeps going up, and when something does happen, I don’t stay down for long.

For I know the battles are going to keep coming.

And I will be prepared to fight and win, no one can say.

I didn’t try.

As your vines

Reach out to me. I pull away, hoping you won’t get too close.

As I know what you are capable of doing to me.

You try to get me to make eye contact, but I won’t look up as I’m sure it will be the end of me.

Just a couple more hours, and I will have survived your torture.

But will I be strong enough next time?

Where are

You

I’ve looked for you everywhere

But there is no sign of you, and I know I can’t be happy as we left things in the wrong place this morning.

And as the sky gets darker, there isn’t a light insight.

And I begin to wonder if you are alright?

Then you show up like a storm on a quiet night, ready to fight and be right.

There isn’t a way that you could be wrong as you’ve worked so hard to be right all the time.

And who am I to question your past and now your present?

Just exhale

And let it go, for it’s not worth it anymore.

To hold in so much stress for one person.

Relax your mind and soul as you exhale and inhale until you are yourself once again, for you are so much more than who you were before.

My time

Will come I believe it as I sit down and start to write again.

I see you in the future, doing what you love with a smile, and you care about everything in sight.

There isn’t a moment of your day that you have to fake it.

You are you all the time, and as you relax for the night, you know it will end well, for you are surrounded by like-minded people who care about you.

And you know now what you can control and can’t, and you don’t let those things hold you back anymore.

You are brave and embrace everything that comes your way. And I see you doing big things and crushing it for you and those you love.

Tonight

As I stare into your eyes, it feels like once in a lifetime to make this move.

I don’t know if it’s worth the risk, but I know there is no more time for me to hold back.

I’m all in, and I hope you are too, for there is no going back now.

So will you give me this time that may be short or a lifetime of love?

I don’t

need your external approval anymore

I realize I must use my internal voice to make it in life.

The voice that outweighs the lack of appreciation you show or give me.

I know that in the end. You saw me as someone you needed to know for the time being.

But the minute you realize I wasn’t like the others around here.

You cut me off and tore me down as if what I felt meant nothing to you.

And I realize now I was just another girl in your path, and when I saw my worth and found my own pace, you didn’t like me anymore.

But that’s okay because I learned a long time ago that not everyone would like me, and I don’t need to care or worry about it anymore.
