Trying to find ourselves

But do we ever truly do?

Or do we just recreate another version of what we were before?

Or be you no matter what comes your way and when will the change will happen.

Or is every change temporary because old habits are hard to kill?

I was blinded

By the lies that quickly slipped from your mouth, I didn’t see or think about what you could have done because you seemed too kind to do too much damage. But that, too, was an act, and you honestly can act it.

But you see, your truth is starting to show as you get a little too comfortable in that chair.

One day you will slip up, and it won’t be okay, but for now, I don’t care how you may end up.

You make the mess; you will clean it up.

And I feel I will be just fine watching you do it all on your own.

Was never to be told

But you told it to the crowd of teens that night as we all sat around the fire.

And it was your turn to tell a scary tale, and as soon as you started, I knew this would not end well.

As others gather around, their interest grows more robust as you go on.

I sneaked away and locked the back door as I knew how this would all end.

With you all alone and everyone who heard the story was sucked in as you get up and blow out the fire.

All I can see before it dark are your red eyes and the evil grin on your face.

So weak that my mind was in a fog of body aches and coughing.

As the common cold took me down.

And the time off became a battle of getting better and just surrounding to the much needed rest.

It made me restless but too weak to write or keep my eyes open. I had to choose but listen to my body.

And now, it’s time to get back up and keep bundling up, as the cold weather isn’t going away anytime soon.

Falling into

The silence of the night

As the sky grows darker and the lights aren’t quite as bright.

But here I am, walking to clear my mind, hoping for a peaceful moment.

But when my mind starts to clear up, it starts to rain, and the temperature drops.

And my feet start to move faster as all I want now is to get back inside and wrap myself in the warmth of the heat.

I sip on a hot cup of peppermint tea and watch the rain come down.

And only then do I find the peace and calm I’ve been searching for high and low for.

I love this time of year where joy and gratitude is high.

And everyone is so thankful for those in their life.

As some count down the days to thanksgiving and being around a table with their loved ones.

Or those who count down to Christmas to get a few days off and spend the joy where ever they go.

Whatever day they look forward to the most, there is something magical around this time of year.

As the year comes to an end and you look forward to what the new year will bring.
