The Shadow that follows me

Advertisements

It was a windy day and as the sky got dark

All I  could see was shadows everywhere.

Shadows on the tall office buildings as I

walked past them as fast as my little legs could carry me.

But as I walked past them, they begun to pull towards me

Snaking cross the ground as fast as  they could go.

I didn’t know if I would make it to my apartment before

they got me, aren’t shadows suppose to be friendly?

Why are they following me and do I even want to find out

At this point ?

Probably not, as I swipe my card I’m in the building and I pull

The door closed just as the shadows  roll up.

When it didn’t come in I was relieved, for I was finally safe

As the shadows disappeared with a blink of my  eye I

Wonder if the wind was playing a trick on me and the shadows

Were just in my head?

  1. rJo Herman – Colorado – I am old now, over 70, with a strong belief in cycles - life, health, political, societal, personal interests...all cycling round and back. I despise pompous *sses, rude and hateful people, idiots. I understand being alone, without feeling lonely. I've climbed my share of hills, looked across some valleys, enjoyed a good sunburn or two. I read, I write, I ink my thoughts on fine paper to share with those I love and admire. I believe in God, and in the power of prayer to enhance lives, effect change, comfort heartbreak. I know when it is time to just stop - tired friendships, exhausting thoughts, nonsense as I see it. and I love sharing ideas, beliefs, activities that add brightness to my life.

whoa…you capture that creepy feeling of things closing in…but my question is…did the shadows reappear in the corner of the far ceiling as you pulled your covers up to your chin?

Thanks, and good question I would say if the story would continue that shadows would have reappeared in corner of her room that night.
