Selfish

This time around

Feels right for once.

For you only live once.

So much to say but nothing comes out

As you close your door to being more than you want to be.

The support no longer there but you are stronger on your own this time around.

To a path you didn’t even know you needed to be on.

A path guided only by lights and beauty

Even when leaves fall into your path instead letting the clutter distract you away from your path.

You embrace the change and keep walking forward because you have so much more to accomplish.

Of year makes me happy and excited.

Even as the cold sets in.

I look forward to being wrapped up in my blanket and read a good book.

Or watch a good movie as everything inside works hard to stay warm.

As the bitter cold does not spoil your happiness today or tomorrow.

A cup of tea or hot chocolate will warm you up in no time.

I have traveled on before

But this time things are complicated.

I can’t seem to look forward to coming back this way.

For the happy memories feel so far away as if it was all a dream.

And not reality at all.

But I can see the tire marks as evidence of how I drove back and forth

Not ready to go back and face what I left behind just days ago.

To have to answer the questions I wanted to leave unanswered for once.

Like everyone else that left before.

Think I can stay

When it feels like all I want to do is run away.

For settling no longer holds any thrill for me anymore.

I don’t know how you will react but I just can’t stay.

And by the end of the day.

Things will no longer be the same anyways.

So I hope one day you will understand this was how it always was going to be.
