Something has

Photo by Houcine Ncib on Unsplash

Changed within me and I’m not sure how to feel right now.

I am torn between falling apart and putting up my walls to protect myself from the strange things happening around me.

I can’t fall back into my old ways, but I can’t keep saying yes to all the new things that sound too good to be true, either.

So here I stand, trying to be firm but not sure what to do about anything at this time.

If only

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

If only I had said no to the things I knew would pile on more stress which allowed my dreams to feel more hollow and empty.

And in the end, all it did was make me question myself and if I was meant to do this or am I being naive to keep going forward.

Saying no and waiting for the right opportunity saved my dream and sanity.

Recognize me

Through my words

Through my pain

Through my fears

Through my strength

As I show up even when I don’t want too and it be the best thing I did.

As the doubt washes away and I let go and have fun and open up.

I realized I couldn’t live in my shadows anymore, for I saw myself for the first time.

And I don’t want to hide anymore, not when I’ve finally sparked the fire inside me that won’t die out because I’m being my authentic self.

To be this open, I know, is a risk, but there is no going back for me now, and I hope and pray I will make it.

I know I’m not the only one believing in me now, and with their support, I can make it to the finish line, but for now, I will accept the present so I have a future to look forward to.

It is where I felt at home

with your love, you gave me strength and safety

and even as I do things on my own, you will always be there for me

Knowing there is no end in sight with you as we start a new beginning.

To just

Leap into the unknown and let myself be me

For it is time to step out of the comfort of my bubble and be seen.

As more than what I let the people in my world see.

To embrace the unknown even when it is scary and risky.

Maybe like before, things will work out for me, or it will be so much better.

I guess I won’t know unless I close my eyes and leap for it all and hope I land and not fall before I get a chance to have it all.

I didn’t

Know I needed to get up, dance, and let the stress wash away.

As the frustration of these last two weeks got the best of me

As the music played and we danced to the beat, the tears and fears poured out of me as we danced the night away.

I knew I would be okay for you two would always have my back, and next time, I won’t wait so long to let you two in and let the things that bother me out.

One of

A kind is all we ever want to be because standing out is what makes us unique.

So having a talent or a gift is something we strive for all our lives.

In hopes of making a difference so we can be proud of ourselves and when tomorrow doesn’t come, we know we left our mark on life.

And we can smile at our accomplishments, and if tomorrow does come, we can continue to work hard at what we love.

And while leaving in the goodness of our present moments, we may forget it could end sooner than later.

And so I try to count all my blessings and enjoy the life I have because complaining just isn’t worth it anymore.

Now I hope, and I dream and put in the work to get it to do so there is nothing left to wonder what if about.

When nothing

Else in life is clear I’ve always had you to guide and hold me.

And as I lie my head on you should and my hand on your heart that beats on and on.

I wish the simple things were all we lived for, and the big things would be up for us to grab when we’re ready.

So I wouldn’t have to depend on you always to comfort me when I mess up, and maybe then I would be strong enough to get through on my own.

I know we’re not children anymore, and I have to stand on my own, for you have troubles too.

But I know this time your words will sink in, and I am worth it, and I’m meant for so much more.

But I have to believe it, too, to do something about it.

I didn’t know

I needed to hear those kind words today.

But the words touched me in a way that I can’t go on feeling the same way I have before.

I can’t keep holding myself back from the possibility that something significant may happen to me if I try.

That I am open to the things, I’ve closed myself off to.

That hiding hasn’t made me feel any better than if I was in sight of you.

One day it could be me, and even today, it’s not.

I’m okay with that, but I know I’m open to it all, no matter what happens from this moment forward!

What a

Day it has been as the first day of November has arrived.

The countdown to the end of the year is in sight, and I can’t help but reflect on how far I have come.

But there is still so much left to do as the days get colder and all I want to do is stay warm and comfortable.

What will this month bring me, and how will I handle it all?

Only time will tell what will happen, and I’m sure there will be surprises along the way.

I know the frustration will come, and I will get through it as I realized this year that giving up isn’t an option.

I may just have to take a different path and results may just end up taking longer to show but rest and recover and I will get back up and face this world again.

The rain

Was pouring down so hard that night.

I thought no one would be foolish enough to still come out.

But there you were, lurking in the shadows with a bag in your hand.

You were waiting to get some candy as you came out of the darkness.

I almost screamed but saw it was only a kid with his mom.

Trick or treating in the rain, she made a promise and kept it even though she was miserable.

Maybe next year, she will plan differently so that she and her son can both be happy and warm.

With a couple of chocolates or gummy bears to warm their tastebuds and their tummies as Halloween slowly comes to an end

Your not here

But I am

And what does that mean

Does it mean anything

Or does that mean I have so much left to do

And will I waste the opportunity you gave me and run out of time?

Should you have given me so many chances, my friend

Or should you have given up on me like everyone else?

Who am I now that you are gone

Will I ever know, even as I make a name for myself

I know it won’t be the same if you were the only one rooting for me!

You knew when I was good and when I was okay was just a lie to get by in this world.

You not here, but I know now you never wanted me to end up like you.

And every day, I will fight my demons to make you proud, my friend.

I am

Photo by martin bennie on Unsplash

one with myself as I sit here today underneath my life tree.

As I close my eyes, I see everything I have faced so far in my life.

But I also see all the things that can happen if I take the right path.

If I stop and do the things I love and not worry about the risk that comes with me doing the right thing for me.

For I don’t want to regret not focusing on all the things I may want or need.

So today, I sit here knowing I won’t get up until I know who I want to be and have the plan to get there too.

So

I haven’t been acting like myself lately; it’s not a crime, yet you’re watching me as if I’m doing something wrong.

But it’s October, the month where being dark is just the way to go.

So why worry if I’m changing when I most likely be back to me on November 1st, and I won’t think twice about what I wore last month?

I’m still young why not have a little fun?

When I’m all done, I won’t regret the way I dressed or wore my makeup.

I will have lived fully, and that’s all I ever truly wanted to do.

I tip my

Hat to you as Halloween comes around this time of year.

Everyone loves scary things or even cute little pumpkins like me.

But maybe you should still watch yourself around me, for I may tip over and cause chaos, my friend.

Or will I, I guess you will have to see but maybe if you put me on display, I will be the best pumpkin candle this month.

Maybe I’ll play nice and stay content until next year.
