Oh when will

Advertisements

Summer end so I curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book.

I get so lost in the pages that the cold doesn’t bother me anymore.

Only in between chapters will I look up and admire the fire.

For it’s the little things, I look forward to and know what adds up in my life.

You flow through me

And I am awakened again, and this time

I feel like everything is clear on what I don’t want anymore.

I want out like never before; I’m screaming on the inside to find the exit from this hell of a place.

And you can’t talk me down. I’m done, and I have no more excuses to stay.

For a second, I was mad at you, but this war has nothing to do with you.

And so please forgive me if I don’t come towards you when you give me that look.

I must escape as the anger and sadness battling inside me may erupt from me and tear my world apart tonight.

My moonlight

The single rose in my hand

Nothing simple about the way you make me feel.

This night is unique, as I recall when you called and asked me out.

And when you handed me the rose, I thought it was cute and sweet.

The rest of the night was history, so every night when I can’t sleep, I stand by the window with that rose in hand and remember how it used to be when you were so sweet.

I look away

From it all

Because I’m tired of the nonsense chatter around me and realize there is no point in getting mad about the things I can’t control, and neither should you.

But I can’t control you, and I don’t want to.

But if I’m quiet and you wonder if something is wrong with me.

I didn’t say the real reason that day, only because I was physically tired, and being quiet was the only calm and reasonable thing to do.

I know this world can be so cruel and unfair, but I won’t play the victim when I, too, have done wrong.

I want to live better and not hold grudges for anyone anymore.

I’m letting it go, and no, I won’t forget what they did, but I’m living for me, not them, and I will be damned if I let them steal my peace of mind.

I may look sad right now, but I’m free from the chains they tried to keep me in. But can you say the same?

See that I was one-of-a-kind

From the way I look

To the glasses I wear

From the rainbows reflecting on my arms that day, I was just another girl you took a photo of and may not see again.

But then there I was, the girl everyone wanted a photo of because, well, they had never seen so many rainbows on one girl.

Because of you, I now stand out more than I did before, and when you called to work with me, I told you I was looking for a different kind of photographer this time.

And as you got mad and stated, I wouldn’t be where I am if you hadn’t taken that photo that day.

I realized that was true, but sometimes how you treat someone at the moment lasts a lifetime.

To be with

You when time stopped and the memory of that day was imprinted in my mind as if nothing before and after it will ever be the same.

Nothing can top the sparkle in your eye, the goofiness of your smile, and the depth of your voice as your laugh seems to touch the deepest parts of your soul as I embraced the joy you pointed my way.

Your energy is so pure and bright, shining down like the sun, sometimes too bright to deal with, but other times, your company is all I want, as some days seem longer than others. No One can match your energy.

Even on my worst days, you still can get through my darkest cloud and make me see the light in things.

As the blessing of a rainbow shines around me, I am at peace again as long as you can stay around and brighten up my day.

How was I

I do know this feeling of resilience would go on

On this long and even then, I make a move to make things better I

I get the same results even if I put in the effort and tell myself to just

Just show up and do the darn thing, but yet still, I sit here so conflicted

Conflicted that this may go on for far too long and how

How long can I go on without genuinely trying to make this work

Work for me, or you? That’s the question I long to answer.

Of me as the heat is turned up.

And everything is intense, and nothing is left innocent anymore.

You don’t get to walk out that door and face the sun like any other day.

For today if you go, you will end up like a puddle on the floor.

I tried to warn you it was too hot, but you told me to mine my business.

And so here I am inside with cold air blowing at me.

And you, my friend, sunburnt inside whining about how cruel today has been to you.

But to tell the truth, the day warned you in many ways, and you still thought it would not hurt you.

To be

Advertisements

In a peaceful place, I long to be

In a place where time slows down and I get all that needs to be done.

I need a vacation to a place of relaxation, as that’s all my body wants to do on my days off.

So here I am, looking at a picture of a place I would rather be.

Maybe one day, but for now, back to reality, my tired body and soul go.

Today I feel

Advertisements

Hopeful about all the possibilities I could complete today.

I will only focus on one thing then when that is complete.

I will move on to the next thing because when I list it all.

My head begins to spin, and all that can be done is untouched like an unwanted snack.

I don’t want to waste time, but I’ve learned if I don’t listen to my body.

Then my well-being is at risk, which I don’t want to put on the back burner to please someone else.

So whatever I get done today will have been all that needed to get done.

And if I wake up tomorrow, the rest can be divided up again until the list is no more.

Nothing is worth stressing over anymore, as when the weight is off my shoulder, the feeling of being free is what I long for.

So today, I am free to be and do what I want.

Getting Lost in excellent music like “To be loved” by Adele

You feel the connection of her uncertainty and pain as if it’s my own.

Like reading a good book or watching a good movie, the emotions, and feelings take you on your own experience.

And the tears that fall are like those they felt when creating what you now love to listen to or read.

Walking away when the song ends is so easy for us, but for them, that’s their memories, and walking away ain’t so easy.

To be an artist is sometimes hard as this feeling of a need to write is there, but the words are not forming yet, so you wait for them to come in their time.

So the days of no words come and go until you can’t stop the flow of words hitting the paper like never before.

A piece that is not only connected to you but to everyone that reads it.

Want to stand out

But somehow, you found me anyways!

I’ve been playing it cool for so long.

I don’t know how to relax around you yet.

But I know when you’re around, it’s all smiles and laughter.

And there is no place I would rather be than smiling and laughing next to you.

Be seen

But I know first I have to believe in myself so that nothing can tear me down.

When all the eyes are on me, and there will be no time for hiding.

And I hope those who want to hear me will hear me and be touched by my words.

For I once didn’t care if you heard me or saw me for me because I wanted to be invisible and blend into this world.

But now I know I’m meant to be seen, and I am worthy of the eyes on me.

For my present and my future, all I’m focused on for my past hurts, and pains are healed up or on their way to being closed wounds.

That no longer hurts me, but they remind me how far I have come.

Me time

Is sometimes forgotten

As I rush around trying to get things done.

The books I was meant to read were forgotten

And maybe on this rainy day, I will sit down and read them.

And get lost in a world of make-believe and, for once, forget my worries and sorrows with every page I turn.

As I finish the books with a smile or a tear in the corner of my eye, I experience something new or just a moment of peace.

And cherish these moments I get when reading a new book and putting in some time for self-care

bowl everything in my life seems up in the air

To my surprise I’m still discovering new things as my journey is unclear

I’m at a standstill right now on the path that felt so right, and I am resting longer than I wanted.

But I am refreshed and awake right now

And soon all that is happening around me won’t be up in the air

And all that I pictured it would be like will fall into place as I open my eyes and know that through the difficulties, I did not quit.

Even when I had no clue what I had walked myself into.
