Oh today

Advertisements

How you drained me of my energy

Starting from my head to my whole body

Rest was all I wanted and all I could afford to do today.

There were moments of strength and weakness, and I moved as necessary.

I am glad to have this day of rest, as I look forward to getting something done tomorrow.

Today made me realize I needed to slow down and take my time or truly rest, for taking care of myself is essential.

I know what I need to do tomorrow, but for now, I will rest and focus on being in the present moment.

Behind the wall

Advertisements

I used to hide my true self as the gem so beautiful that only a few will ever truly meet her.

The girl who was scared to break free when she had something to say

But now that girl is a woman who speaks her mind, for she is tired of being treated like she doesn’t matter or her time isn’t as precise as the rest.

She doesn’t continue to sit on the sidelines and just be silent when she has something to say because you’re too scared to step out of line, for he doesn’t want to be punished.

But how long do you want to stay silent?

I’ve allowed myself to be kept behind those walls out of fear and lack of confidence.

But no more, I matter, and my voice will be heard whether you like it or not because you should be considered for others for once in your life. Because I’m tired of making excuses for you, you smile and move on.

I’ve had enough, and the thing is, there is no way to put me back in that wall, for the power of my voice coming out of me is too powerful for me to stay silent ever again.

Everyday

I want to thank you, Lord

When I think I don’t know what to do next

You show me just what I need, and the peace and your love guide me.

I can’t help but smile and move through my day as if I’m floating on air.

To feel so free and right and know that if someone steps in my way, I will sidestep them and keep moving.

For I am unstoppable now, and I don’t want to go back as I let go of the last couple of days and just enjoy this day.

A day wrapped in your warmth and love, and I know this is the start I needed to come back stronger and wiser than before.

Making connections

Advertisements

It’s the way we were made

And sometimes, it can be wonderful to laugh and talk with people who relate to you.

To have an unexpected connection is excellent as you get to know someone you didn’t think you would end up bonding with.

The feeling of being happy to see them

And knowing that feeling is mutual

And connecting and still not agreeing on the same things but still coming back and talking some more.

Sometimes, heads are butted, and we feel unheard or dismissed, but sometimes, we get in our feelings because it’s harder to trust and keep friends at some point in life.

So authentic connections sometimes are rare, and when you find one, you want to hold on for dear life for you get to the point where you see through the people who are nice to you to know your business and then toss you to the side when they feel better comes along.

We still crave connection, but we become more guarded sometimes; we throw it all to the wind and let fate and destiny take the wheel as we risk putting ourselves out there. Sometimes, it pays off, and your fairytale friendship is born.

Hanging on

Advertisements

To hope like a loss thread that everything will work out.

But then my true desire pulls me forward and there’s no going back now.

As the feeling is so strong, I can’t ignore it, and once I face it, it feels so right.

And all along, what was I thinking when this is what I was meant to do?

It’s like my plans were not suitable, and now I’m back where I was a month ago, doing the thing I love.

And I know now my plans weren’t God’s, and so on a wild goose tale I went.

Not looking around or about because I thought I was right, and life just laughed at me, and now I see how silly I was.

Oh, how I laugh as I open my eyes and enjoy the beauty of a new day. And I know I will never forget what a lesson I learned today.

I went seeking

The letters that would tell me about you

The one person I never got to know before I was born.

When my eyes opened for the first time, you were already gone.

But all my life, they said I looked and acted just like you.

So, on a bright sunny morning, I found the dresser filled with your words, and I read them until I could see out my eyes from all the tears I cried.

But as the sun shined through and I got through half of your letters, I am so grateful you wrote to me and about your life.

So now, as I walk through this life, I have pieces of you with me no matter where I go.

And I hope one day to write as beautifully as you once did, grandmother.

Because of you, I love to write and sing, and one day, everyone will know me for me and as your granddaughter, too.

Oh when will

Summer end so I curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book.

I get so lost in the pages that the cold doesn’t bother me anymore.

Only in between chapters will I look up and admire the fire.

For it’s the little things, I look forward to and know what adds up in my life.

You flow through me

And I am awakened again, and this time

I feel like everything is clear on what I don’t want anymore.

I want out like never before; I’m screaming on the inside to find the exit from this hell of a place.

And you can’t talk me down. I’m done, and I have no more excuses to stay.

For a second, I was mad at you, but this war has nothing to do with you.

And so please forgive me if I don’t come towards you when you give me that look.

I must escape as the anger and sadness battling inside me may erupt from me and tear my world apart tonight.

I look away

From it all

Because I’m tired of the nonsense chatter around me and realize there is no point in getting mad about the things I can’t control, and neither should you.

But I can’t control you, and I don’t want to.

But if I’m quiet and you wonder if something is wrong with me.

I didn’t say the real reason that day, only because I was physically tired, and being quiet was the only calm and reasonable thing to do.

I know this world can be so cruel and unfair, but I won’t play the victim when I, too, have done wrong.

I want to live better and not hold grudges for anyone anymore.

I’m letting it go, and no, I won’t forget what they did, but I’m living for me, not them, and I will be damned if I let them steal my peace of mind.

I may look sad right now, but I’m free from the chains they tried to keep me in. But can you say the same?

To be with

Advertisements

You when time stopped and the memory of that day was imprinted in my mind as if nothing before and after it will ever be the same.

Nothing can top the sparkle in your eye, the goofiness of your smile, and the depth of your voice as your laugh seems to touch the deepest parts of your soul as I embraced the joy you pointed my way.

Your energy is so pure and bright, shining down like the sun, sometimes too bright to deal with, but other times, your company is all I want, as some days seem longer than others. No One can match your energy.

Even on my worst days, you still can get through my darkest cloud and make me see the light in things.

As the blessing of a rainbow shines around me, I am at peace again as long as you can stay around and brighten up my day.

How was I

Advertisements

I do know this feeling of resilience would go on

On this long and even then, I make a move to make things better I

I get the same results even if I put in the effort and tell myself to just

Just show up and do the darn thing, but yet still, I sit here so conflicted

Conflicted that this may go on for far too long and how

How long can I go on without genuinely trying to make this work

Work for me, or you? That’s the question I long to answer.

Pour out

Of me as the heat is turned up.

And everything is intense, and nothing is left innocent anymore.

You don’t get to walk out that door and face the sun like any other day.

For today if you go, you will end up like a puddle on the floor.

I tried to warn you it was too hot, but you told me to mine my business.

And so here I am inside with cold air blowing at me.

And you, my friend, sunburnt inside whining about how cruel today has been to you.

But to tell the truth, the day warned you in many ways, and you still thought it would not hurt you.

To be

Advertisements

In a peaceful place, I long to be

In a place where time slows down and I get all that needs to be done.

I need a vacation to a place of relaxation, as that’s all my body wants to do on my days off.

So here I am, looking at a picture of a place I would rather be.

Maybe one day, but for now, back to reality, my tired body and soul go.
